Storytime Foundation Fundraiser!

15% of all sales from the 21st of November until the 31st of December was donated directly to the Storytime Foundation. That means buying a book this year also helped give books to children who need them most!

Celebrating the holiday season should always involves giving back to your community.

Storytime Foundation runs programmes for families in New Zealand that focus on improving bonds between children and parents through the avenue of reading. They promote the importance of nurturing healthy relationships from a very early age, and what better way to do that than by reading and sharing stories.

From their website: "Storytime Foundation strengthens vulnerable young children and their families by enhancing the bond between parent and child early in life.

A strong bond between a caregiver and child during the first 1000 days significantly improves outcomes in life for the child and the wider family unit. It also has positive effects on literacy.

At Storytime we are committed to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi. By connecting with our partners and whanau in authentic, culturally responsive and mana-enhancing ways we can support whanau to thrive.

We know a strong bond made in the early years between tamariki and their parents/caregivers acts as a protective cloak throughout the child’s life."

Storytelling is almost a basic human instinct that we have done for as long as we could communicate with each other. Community engagement is important, and during the holidays times can be especially tough for some families. I couldn't think of a better organisation to fundraise for this Christmas.
